§ 8. Jailor.

The jailor of the City of Martinsville, or the person in charge of the prison or prison farm of the said city is authorized to receive into jail, prison, or prison farm in the manner provided by law all persons apprehended by the sheriff or any police officer of said city for violation of the rules, regulations, bylaws, or ordinances, or for disturbing the peace of the said city, and shall be authorized to retain such persons in his custody until ten o'clock the following morning, at which time they shall be discharged unless regularly committed to his custody by a mittimus or warrant.
